I’ve known since a young age that I have wanted to be an entrepreneur; to be in control of my professional destiny and allow my creativity to direct my future. What I didn’t know at the time was what this future would look like.
And so I followed the most unpredictable path possible (or the path of least resistance) – a degree in political science, followed by an entry level position with my local MPP. It was during this first year of work that I witnessed my first media scrum. More importantly, I watched a young communications pro take command of that hungry sea of reporters and ensure his message got through. Then and there I knew exactly what my future would look like. Or so I thought.
It didn’t take long to enroll in a post-grad PR program and begin a very rewarding career in communications and public relations. Over the past decade I have worked with a number of interesting and exciting individuals and organizations – ranging from politicians and non-profits to financial organizations and small businesses. And throughout this journey I have had the opportunity to work with, and learn from some of the best in the communications businesses.
While I have worked for numerous PR professionals and run my own communications departments, I have always felt that something was missing. That perhaps I wasn’t quite reaching my professional dreams; and that I wasn’t following through on my desire to be my own boss.
Which leads us to today!
After years of thinking, planning and working towards my ultimate goal, I am thrilled to finally have my dreams come true. PaperDoll Communications is my professional love child. An endeavor I know can only lead to new and exciting communication experiences.
Inspired by the children’s toy that can present any style the imagination comes up with, PaperDoll Communications strives to offer custom tailored communications services to individuals and organizations looking to elevate their public profile and present their brand image with style and substance.
I plan to use this blog to educate and inform readers about trends in communications, social media and public relations; and to share client’s stylized stories.
